Very bad experience. Never recommend anybody to stay at this camp. No water availability. Staff was uncooperative. Foul smell in the kitchen & restaurant area. No sanitation at the stay place. Very far from Pangong lake. Stay away from such terrible tent

Pangong lake is a must visit place if you are visiting Ladakh. We stayed overnight at "The Ladakh Camp" in Spangmik. This area was less crowded and has a good view of the lake and mountains. The tented accommodation was basic as is to be expected in such an isolated location, but the bed linen, toilet and towels were clean and we were served excellent meals(dinner & breakfast) by the staff. They are doing an excellent job in quite demanding circumstances & take good care of their guests.

Incorrect information

The information being provided here about the camp is incorrect. Now there are no tents/camps adjacent the Pangyong Lake. After the directive issued by the government few months back, all the tents adjacent to the lake have been removed. The Ladakh camp in particular is now divided into 2.. one location is at Lukung which comes first while arriving at the lake. This location has about 10 tents. The other location is around 5 km further drive. This is where the maximum number of camps are located..about 300 odd i believe. This location of The Ladakh Camps is where we stayed. 2 tents were booked by us. The Ladakh Camp is perhaps the farthest from the lake..having said that, I shall also mention that none of the camps located here are at a walkable distance from the lake..you have to drive down to the lake..it is good 500-600 metres from any of the camps. And at that altitude it is like walking 2 kms. So its not that easy evening stroll. The camp was pretty ok. Definitely not that luxurious as shown in the pics. But i guess you cannot expect much at such an altitude where you get only about 5-6 hours of electricity and that too via generator. The food was also decent. Staff was courteous. We were promised electric blanket but they were not available. But were provided with extra blankets so it was manageable. My advise- You can actually go for any camp. Similar facilities everywhere. But just make sure that you do not book at Lukung. The other location where we stayed and which has the maximum number of camps is much more scenic and right at the famous shooting point of movies 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
